Experience culture, community and great coffee.

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee—an honor we take seriously. Coffee ceremonies are a daily ritual back in Ethiopia where friends and family gather to share stories, news and stay connected. We’re honoring this beloved ritual here in San Diego and we’d love for you to experience for yourself.

Gather your friends and family and enjoy freshly roasted and brewed Ethiopian beans, served in a traditional fashion. Ceremonies are $12-15 per person, and include up to three cups of coffee per person, and is served with traditional snacks.

2nd & 4th Saturdays of every month (October 11-December 27, 2025) unless otherwise noted on Instagram and our Eventbrite page.

Includes:

  1. Up to 3 cups of freshly brewed Ethiopian coffee

  2. Traditional snacks (popcorn and Ethiopian bread "defo/dabo" or "ambasha"). $15 ticket includes 2 sambusas to make it a light breakfast (highly recommended).

  3. An incredibly unique and authentic coffee drinking experience

  4. 10% discount towards a meal enjoyed on the same day

SERIES Schedule:

(Re)starting October 2025 until the end of the year, ceremonies will be hosted on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month unless otherwise noted. Please follow our Instagram to stay up to date.

Our new ceremony area

Come help us break in the new ceremony area! With special help from Akitso, we’re most proud of a bigger and grander area to host guests for coffee ceremonies!

Before

Founded by daughter of immigrant restaurant owners, Akitso is a nonprofit design studio that exists to ensure that independent, small-scale, mom-and-pop food businesses thrive—profitably and sustainably—for generations to come. Here’s what we created with them.
